To make the Farm Animals activity I used a variety of resources. Since I wanted it to be a hands-on activity I incorporated a set of farm animals that the children had to assemble together. I wrote the animals’ names in small cards and cut paper rolls to made the animals’ shelter. I used a nice little wooden farm that the children used at the end of the activity to keep everything inside.
This is the farm activity.
Aubrey started to assemble the farm animals, matching the upper part with the lower part. Tricky, tricky…
Aubrey began to read the first animal card. Then, she put the animal inside the little house. She continued reading the cards, putting the corresponding animals inside their houses. I could see that Aubrey was taking care that the animals were properly put inside their houses.
Chevy also played with the farm, but when he finished he decided to play with the little houses, putting them on top of each other.
I asked the children if they liked the activity and they said they did. Then the children suggested that they could decorate the houses. Great idea! They collected markers, felt pens and stickers and happily started to decorate all the houses. What a good time!
After the children finished decorating the houses, they decided to play with them again. I could see that after the improvements, the activity was just perfect.
