This week I prepared a series of interactive mathematical activities that I thought could be enjoyable and meaningful for the children. This activity was done outside in the backyard. It involved putting numbers in order from 1 to 20 and matching numerals to quantities.
These are photos of the children while they do the activity.

I used 20 pot bases that I found one day on the street. I numerated the pot bases in both side. In this activity I left the pot bases facing up. I prepared a big bucket full of golf balls, that my partner has been collecting during his walks to the golf club, and that he generously gave to us. I also prepared three small baskets to collect the balls.
First, the children organised the numbers in order from 1-20.
Then, every child chooses a number. The children began to collect  that number of golf balls. I decided to spread the golf balls in three separate piles so the children could count their balls without being distracted for the voiced counting of the other child.

The children told me that they liked the activity and that they enjoyed the interaction with the balls and moving the baskets around.
